Szamurájok, kabuki maszkok, játékfigurák és különös lények népesítik be Rácmolnár Sándor legújabb sorozatát bemutató, Lebegő világ című egyéni kiállítását. A művészre jellemző vintage papírhasználat ezúttal Japánból merít inspirációt, ahol az alkotó néhány hetes látogatást tett. Egykori nyomtatványok, füzetlapok és pecsétek adnak alapot aprólékosan kidolgozott karaktereinek. A papírokon található korábbi bejegyzések, táblázatok és jelek a kompozíciók szerves részeivé válnak, Rácmolnár ezekhez kapcsolja saját alakjait, új történeteket hozva létre.

A cím az ukijo-e, vagyis „a lebegő világ képei” elnevezését idézi. A „lebegő világ” eredetileg az élet és a földi lét múlandóságára utaló buddhista fogalom volt. Az Edo-korban azonban a városi szórakozónegyedek, a kabuki színházak, a gésák és az érzéki örömök gondtalan világát jelentette, amelyet az ukijo-e fametszetek örökítettek meg. Rácmolnár a hagyományos motívumokat saját képi világában értelmezi újra, és a kortárs japán vizuális kultúra elemeivel kapcsolja össze. A történeti alakok így a manga, a játékok és a populáris kultúra figuráival kerülnek közös, szabadon formált képi világba.

A japán utazás élménye nem úti emlékként, hanem új történetek kiindulópontjaként jelenik meg. Ebben a részletgazdag és humoros univerzumban a hősi groteszkké, a fenyegető játékossá, az ismerős pedig különössé válhat. A Lebegő világ minden alkotása egy korábbi történetet őriz és egy újabb felfedezésére hív.

A kiállítás 2026. szeptember 3. és október 1. között tart nyitva, kedd-szombat 12 és 18 óra között ingyenesen látogatható a Várfok Galériában.

Samurai, kabuki masks, toy figures, and strange creatures inhabit Floating World, Sándor Rácmolnár’s upcoming solo exhibition presenting a new body of work. The artist’s signature use of vintage paper draws inspiration this time from Japan, where he spent several weeks. Old printed documents, notebook pages, and stampes provide the foundation for his meticulously crafted characters. Rácmolnár lift traditional motifs and figures into his visual world. Charts, markings and notes on the papers become integral elements of the compositions, as Rácmolnár connects his own figures to these traces of the past, creating new narratives.

The exhibition title refers to ukiyo-e, “pictures of the floating world.” Originally, the term “floating world” was a Buddhist concept expressing the transience of earthly existence. During the Edo period, it came to describe the vibrant world of urban entertainment districts, kabuki theatres, geisha, and fleeting sensual pleasures, immortalized in ukiyo-e woodblock prints. Rácmolnár in his new body of work incorporates historical figures thus share an imaginative pictorial space with characters inspired by manga, toys, and contemporary Japanese visual culture.

The artist’s experience of Japan appears not as a travelogue, but as the starting point for new stories. Within this detailed and humorous universe, the heroic may become grotesque, the threatening playful, and the familiar strange. Each work in Floating World preserves the traces of an earlier story while inviting viewers to discover a new one.

The exhibition is on view from September 3rd to October 1st, 2026, Tuesday to Saturday, 12–18, and can be visited free of charge at Várfok Gallery.
