Bódy Gábor vitathatatlanul a magyar kísérleti filmművészet egyik legikonikusabb, nemzetközi szinten is kiemelkedő, paradigmatikus alakja volt. Rendezői munkássága az elméleti megközelítésmód és szubverzív művészeti praxis ötvözésének legemblematikusabb példája, mely újradefiniálta nemcsak a magyar, de a nemzetközi neoavantgárd filmművészetet is. Hagyatéka központi szerepet játszik nemcsak a kelet-közép-európai mozgókép-alapú vizuális ellenkultúra történetében, de alakulásának jövőbeli lehetőségeiben is.

Az ELTE BTK Művészetelméleti és Médiakutatási Intézet Filmtudomány Tanszéke és a Celluloidra Revolverrel interdiszciplináris emlékkonferenciát és kiállítást szervez a C³ Kulturális és Kommunikációs Központ Alapítvány, a Szépművészeti Múzeum – KEMKI – Artpool Művészetkutató Központ, a Magyar Filmtudományi Társaság, az MKE Intermédia Tanszék, a MOME MEDIA DESIGN Szak, valamint a MATE Rippl-Rónai Művészeti Intézet együttműködésében Bódy Gábor születésének 80. évfordulója alkalmából.

Gábor Bódy was indisputably one of the most iconic and paradigmatic figures of Hungarian experimental cinema, with outstanding international significance. His work as a filmmaker represents one of the most emblematic syntheses of theoretical inquiry and subversive artistic practice, redefining not only Hungarian but also international neo-avant-garde cinema. His legacy plays a central role not only in the history of Central and Eastern European moving-image-based visual counterculture, but also in laying down the foundation of its future possibilities.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Gábor Bódy’s birth, the Department of Film Studies at the Institute for Art Theory and Media Studies, ELTE Faculty of Humanities, together with Celluloidra Revolverrel, is organizing an interdisciplinary memorial conference in collaboration with the C³ Center for Culture & Communication Foundation, the Museum of Fine Arts – KEMKI – Artpool Art Research Center, the Hungarian Society for Film Studies, the Intermedia Department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, MOME Media Design, and the Rippl-Rónai Institute of Arts at MATE.
