ANGOL-EST. KORONÁZÁS.
A brit karmester, Howard Williams az angol zenetörténet elmúlt bő háromszáz évéből válogatva állította össze a koncert műsorát. A barokk korszakot Purcell és Händel, a 19-20. századot Hubert Parry, William Walton és Benjamin Britten kompozíciói reprezentálják. A hangverseny egyik különlegessége a skót James MacMillan műve, melyet maga II. Erzsébet királynő rendelt saját temetési szertartására. Amikor a mű 2022 szeptember 19-én a Westminster apátság templomban felcsendült, világszerte több millióan hallgatták meg. A királyi családhoz kapcsolódik Hubert Parry himnusza is (I Was Glad), melyet legelőször 1902-ben, VII. Edward, majd V. György, II. Erzsébet, legutóbb pedig III. Károly koronázási ünnepségén adtak elő.

ENGLISH. MUSIC. CORONATION.
British conductor Howard Williams has selected the programme for this concert from that period of English music history which stretches over the last three hundred years. The Baroque period is represented by Purcell and Händel, while the 19th and 20th centuries are embodied by compositions by Hubert Parry, William Walton and Benjamin Britten. One of the unique works staged at this concert is a piece by Scottish composer James MacMillan: this composition was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth II herself for her own funeral service. When the work was performed in Westminster Abbey on 19th September 2022, it was heard by millions of people around the world. Also associated with the Royal Family is Hubert Parry’s hymn entitled ‘I Was Glad’. This work was first performed in 1902 at the coronation of Edward VII, then at the coronation of George V to be followed by the coronation of Elizabeth II, and most recently it was played at the coronation of Charles III.
