Each film examines everyday camera use, image-making practices, and the relationships people maintain with lens-based media across the mundane, the personal, and the political. This August, we will screen Werner Herzog's documentary ‘Lo and Behold: Reveries of the Connected World’, presented in Hungary for the first time. The film explores how the internet, artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital networks have become integral to everyday life, and examines the questions these technologies raise about human relationships, knowledge, work, and, not least, contemporary visual culture. Herzog's perspective – at once critical and deeply lyrical – resonates strongly with Eidolon's audience, as the film reflects on the cultural, social, and philosophical consequences of technology, as well as the changing role of images in the digital age. The film will be screened three times in English, with Hungarian subtitles. Before the screenings, a short video essay by aesthete Pál Gerdesits will be shown, contextualising the film.
