A Berlini Filharmonikusok 12 csellistája különleges együttes: a világ egyik legjobb szimfonikus zenekarának tagjaiból áll, és kizárólag egyetlen mély vonós hangszer játékosai alkotják. Egyedivé teszi megalakulásának története is: 1972-ben, amikor a csellószólam művészei egy lemezfelvétel kedvéért, alkalmi csoportosulásként kezdtek önállóan muzsikálni, produkciójuk olyan sikert aratott, hogy azóta is járják a világot, öregbítve hírnevüket – és az anyazenekarét. Páratlanul színes és szórakoztató repertoárt szólaltatnak meg. Erre számíthatunk a Müpában is, ahová immár másodszor látogatnak el, műsorukon többek között Boris Blacher, John Williams, Nino Rota, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Michel Legrand, Burt Bacharach, Astor Piazzolla népszerű dallamaival.

The 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic are a unique ensemble, composed exclusively of instrumentalists from the cello section of one of the world’s top symphony orchestras. Equally singular is the story of their genesis: in 1972, when the artists began to play music separately as a casual group with the aim of recording an album, the result was so successful that they have been touring the world ever since, burnishing not only their own reputations, but that of their parent orchestra as well. They compile their programmes from an incredibly colourful and entertaining repertoire. This performance, their second visit to Müpa Budapest, will be no exception, featuring popular tunes by Boris Blacher, John Williams, Nino Rota, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Michel Legrand, Burt Bacharach, and Astor Piazzolla, among others.
