This is a fun and family-friendly event to celebrate happiness, healthiness, and friendships. Join us for a little silly fun as we get our energy out and raise money to support PTM at Moccasin Elementary. What exactly is a Zombie run? We're glad you asked! This is a one-mile fun run for children and adults of all ages. You will get to test your speed, endurance, and strength while trying to avoid our ravenous zombies .... okayyyyy, full disclosure: our zombies are not ravenous, they are more silly than anything. After all, this is a family-friendly event. So join us and get ready to laugh your hearts out and RUN FOR YOUR LIVES. Runners will wear flags that represent their health and Zombies will try to steal those flags as runners make their way through the course. If you make it through the course with both flags remaining, you survived!!!! What do you get? > Every pre-registered runner gets an Event T-Shirt, > 2 Health Flags to clip on, > and a Zombie After Party - filled with games, tattoos, music, and snacks. WHO IS IT FOR? All of Buchanan Community (and surrounding area) is invited to join the fun, especially Buchanan students and their families! If you’re ready to run (or walk, strut, or shuffle) for your life in this fun and silly fun run event, then you’re welcome! Keep in mind it is an untimed event that is geared toward younger kids having the time of their lives, so all participants have to be in support of that and help to make sure these kids have an awesome and safe experience! WHEN IS IT? Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 2-5pm EVENT SCHEDULE 2pm - Registration Opens 2:30pm - Zombie Stretch Yoga 3pm - Run Begins {RUN FOR YOUR LIVES} 3:30pm - Zombie After Party (games, activities, photo ops, tattoos, music, snacks, and fun!) WHERE IS IT? Buchanan School Farm 3588 Andrews Road, Buchanan MI 49107 *NO AVAILABLE ON-SITE BATHROOMS* FAQs Is the run timed? No. The race and its participants do not get timed. Run, walk, skip or dance the course, but try to keep your "health" intact! What's the goal? Runners will clip on two flags (imagine flag football) that represent their health. Zombies will try to steal those flags throughout the course. Runners try to dodge the zombies to keep their flags until the finish line (for a special treat). What happens if a runner loses all their flags? If a runner loses all their flags, they keep running and finish the race. Can a runner hide their flags? No, we understand that when trying to survive there are no rules.... but this is a fun sporting event. Please don't cheat! Are scholarships available in case I can't afford the registration? YES! We want everyone to join in the fun! There will be scholarships available for those who need it (full pre-registrations including the event t-shirt available on a first-come, first-served basis, but even if those are all taken you can still join us to run). When you fill out your Runner Registration, check YES when asked if a scholarship would help you be able to participate. Then show up day of and we'll check our list to see if you received the full registration scholarship (with the event t-shirt), or if not then you can run anyway! What happens if there is bad weather? Rain or shine the race is on, a little rain can't stop us! But safety is most important, so if there is a bad storm (thunder, lightning, etc) there could be a delay or cancellation. If canceled, all participants will receive an email with information on how they can pick up their swag & race kit. But the event would not get rescheduled. Will my kids be scared? Scaring children is NOT the goal!!! The theme is zombies, but we have asked our zombies to make the costumes simple and silly as this event is geared for young children. The goal is a fun running event, it's more like a silly game of tag than a haunted house. What are the age restrictions? None! If you can cover a 1 mile course (running, jogging, walking, or dancing) then you can join in on the fun! - Due to safety concerns on farm terrain, no pets, strollers, or wagons allowed on course. What is a "Zombie Stretch"? Before the run starts, our local yoga studio has agreed to host a 15-minute themed Zombie Stretch to help our runners get prepared for the run of their lives! What is the route? The starting line will begin just beyond the "sugar shack" at the School Farm. Runners will run a 1/2 mile loop (twice) going out towards the Middle School and returning ending at the School Farm. Prior to the race, Zombies will be placed throughout the route in their "zone" and can walk or run (their choice) at the runners in an attempt to capture runner flags. Zombies must remain in their zone during the event and cannot run along with runners, but can certainly give chase to runners for a few seconds while they are in their zone. What about safety? Safety is the most important aspect of this event. Runners and Zombies must respect each other and share the course. There will be bumpy terrain and dirt. Everyone must be mindful of their surroundings, especially when transitioning into a section that may fit only one person at a time. All participants will need to sign a Zombie Run Participant Release & Waiver of Liability form. Will the Zombies attack me? No direct or intentional contact with another runner or zombie is permitted (course "lifeguards" will be present throughout the course during the event to monitor, assist runners, and serve as "safe zones" where runners can catch their breath). Zombies can go after runners' flags, but cannot grab body parts, completely impede passage, or tackle. Runners cannot push other runners into zombies. No fake (or real) weapons allowed. Any violators of these rules will result in the individual being asked to leave the premises immediately. Are spectators welcome? Absolutely.... we know that runners have friends and family members that want to watch this event & enjoy the day. All spectators are free and get to enjoy all the fun our Zombie Run event has to offer!
