- **Event Description**: This training session is for all NEW volunteers and volunteers who have been unable to attend a training session before. It’s also a good refresher course for those who may have been away from TEC for a bit.  We invite you to attend this training session as it will introduce you to all the basics of TEC and being a TEC volunteer. The session will provide you with an overview of various TEC volunteer opportunities which includes our riding lessons Camp TEC Mane Event and more. In addition this training will allow us to introduce volunteers to the policies and procedures that are in place at the TEC barn – Jane M. Hiler Facility.  As a TEC volunteer you have the opportunity to … ~ Make a difference in someone’s life. ~ Learn new skills. ~ Work with horses. ~ Meet new people. ~ Stay active and benefit from physical activities.  TEC volunteers come in all sizes and shapes are of all ages (Sorry but you must be at least 14 yrs. old.) have diverse backgrounds and wear many hats; such as: ~ Therapeutic riding lessons ~ Chores around the barn and pastures ~ Spreading the word about what TEC does ~ Teaching school children and young adults ~ Administrative and office tasks ~ Fundraising and special events ~ Growing the Board of Directors ~ And many other exciting opportunities!  In general volunteers who assist with therapeutic riding lessons Camp TEC and Mane Event must be able to: ~ Be active for 45 minutes including walking and light jogging. ~ Work indoors and outdoors in various weather extremes. ~ Follow fast-paced directions from the instructor. ~ Assist riders weighing up to 200 pounds.  You can volunteer for an hour or two or sign up to be a substitute. No experience necessary. We provide hands-on training and answer all your questions.
