Hello magic players! It's about that time again for the start of another Re4per's Game Shop commander budget league! Random color restrictions can be drawn starting November 1st. With the first event happening on December 13th. If you've never joined us for a budget league you might have a few questions, so let me help you out.
What is a commander budget league?
It's a commander league that takes place with 4 events over the course of 4 months. Starting with you coming into Re4per's Game Shop in Bryan Ohio and randomly selecting a color restriction. Then keeping to that restriction you choose a commander of $7 or less and make a deck of up to $25, not including the cost of the commander or basic lands, on mtggoldfish.com and submitting it to the shop. Once you submit the deck its locked in, no matter the price changes for the better or worse. Then the real fun starts, you show up for 3 rounds of action per event and with each event you can increase the overall value of the deck by $25 each time. The league finishes up with players battling it out with $100 decks. All decks should be crafted with bracket 2 restrictions in mind.
Does it cost anything to join? Are there prizes?
If you pay the day you come to make your color selection it's only $25 up front for the whole event. Paying anytime after the color selection bumps the price up to $30. When it comes to prizes you'll get $5 in store credit for each game you win, meaning you can get up to $15 in credit per event. In addition, there are store credit prizes and promo cards given out at the final event based on overall ranking.
When do these budget league events happen?
Traditionally they happen at 5pm on the 3rd Saturday of each month. While this is the standard it is not a concrete date but it is set by the time of the previous month's event. The first event of this league will happen on December 13th.
Can I get the cards I’ll need from Re4per's Game Shop?
You sure can! We have a huge selection of cards from across the decades of magic. You can come in and dig through set boxes and binders or submit a pull list to the shop via the store website. If you are submitting a deck for the staff to pull please try to submit it at least 2 weeks in advance as we are pulling decks every day and can't guarantee we'll get to yours in time on short notice. This is especially the case with larger pull orders.
Last budget league we had a hefty 20 players and it was a blast but we would always love for that number to grow.
