Her work looks closely at how frontline services take on new technology, and where oversight keeps pace with adoption, and where it does not.Description of the session : The evening will take the form of a moderated discussion, with a dedicated focus at the beginning on Amy’s research into AI adoption in UK local government and social care. Her insights will set the scene for the conversation, exploring the pace of AI rollout compared with the development of appropriate oversight, as well as the practical realities and challenges frontline staff encounter in their day-to-day work.The discussion will then broaden to explore what the skills gap in public administration really looks like, how AI adoption can narrow or widen existing inequalities between institutions and staff, and how the nature of public sector work may evolve as AI tools become increasingly embedded in daily practice.These questions are emerging across every layer of digital government: from procurement and service design to frontline teams adopting new tools faster than the safeguards needed to govern them, and data foundations that remain too fragmented or inconsistent to support increasingly ambitious AI applications.Is this for you?
