Graphic novelist Joff Winterheart joins us at At The Chapel to talk about his latest book, Dear Historian - a tender, funny and deeply humane portrait of two women brought together by history, loss and unexpected friendship.
The novel centres on Margaret, a septuagenarian scholar devoted to her lifelong research obsession, and Lucy, a much younger television producer searching for purpose after heartbreak. As their worlds collide, Dear Historian becomes a quietly moving meditation on age, influence, creativity and what it means to be seen.
Described by Zadie Smith as “one of the most talented graphic novelists in the UK”, Joff will talk about the making of Dear Historian and his wider work, sharing images from his research, inspirations from film and music, and insights into how his stories take shape. Expect warmth, wit and a glimpse behind the scenes of a distinctive creative process - with the possibility of a live drawing or two along the way.
