___________________________
For the Austrian cellist Valerie Fritz, sound quality is the cornerstone of an accurate interpretation. She explores her instrument with an open mind and thorough precision to serve the piece she is working with as faithfully as possible. Furthermore, she has a captivating artistic personality, as seen from her nomination as ECHO Rising Star of the ’25-’26 season by several European musical bodies, including Bozar. In a world full of contradictions, Valerie Fritz and the Bosnian accordionist Goran Stevanovich present Dialogue of Doubt. The work is a musical investigation of the tension between doubt and belief, at the convergence of the tortured Schumann’s loss of his footing, the hope and despair of Messiaen as a prisoner of war, the spiritual struggle of Goubaïdoulina and doubt as a driving force in Majkusiak’s Rhythms of Doubt.
Valerie Fritz has been named 'Rising Star' for the '25-'26 season by Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Bozar, la Casa da Música Porto, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus Dortmund and the Musikverein Wien as part of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) network. During her European tour, the artist has been invited to perform at Bozar and to give a private concert for the residents of Petit-Château (refugee arrival centre), in collaboration with the Fedasil and Orfeo associations.
