ShitKid est le projet d’Åsa Söderqvist, artiste suédoise originaire de Göteborg, dont la trajectoire singulière oscille entre urgence punk, pop DIY et détours plus mélancoliques. Pensé dès le départ comme une parenthèse limitée dans le temps, ShitKid devait initialement exister “cinq à sept ans” avant de laisser place à une vie plus stable, en dehors de la musique.

Entre 2016 et sa première pause, le projet se déploie à un rythme effréné : enregistrements lo-fi sur ordinateur défectueux, pop rêveuse et étrange de Fish, minimalisme introspectif de This Is It, ou encore énergie adolescente de [DETENTION], réalisé avec Lina Molarin Eriksson. En parallèle, ShitKid s’impose sur les scènes de Roskilde, SXSW ou Way Out West, tout en attirant une attention critique et un culte discret mais grandissant.

ShitKid is het project van Åsa Söderqvist, een Zweedse artieste uit Göteborg, wier unieke carrière schommelt tussen punk-urgentie, DIY-pop en meer melancholische uitstapjes. ShitKid was vanaf het begin bedoeld als een tijdelijk intermezzo en zou aanvankelijk ‘vijf tot zeven jaar’ bestaan, alvorens plaats te maken voor een stabieler leven buiten de muziek.

Tussen 2016 en haar eerste pauze ontwikkelde het project zich in een razend tempo: lo-fi-opnames op een defecte computer, de dromerige en vreemde pop van ‘Fish’, het introspectieve minimalisme van ‘This Is It’, of de puberale energie van ‘[DETENTION]’, gerealiseerd in samenwerking met Lina Molarin Eriksson. Tegelijkertijd maakte ShitKid naam op festivals als Roskilde, SXSW en Way Out West, en trok het project zowel aandacht van critici als een bescheiden maar groeiende schare fans.
