Quelque part à la lisière du paysage en perpétuelle mutation de Manchester, Shaking Hand façonne ses propres architectures sonores. Le trio puise dans l’héritage du post-rock des origines et de l’alternative américaine des années 90 pour esquisser une musique à la fois habitée par la nostalgie et résolument tournée vers l’avant, où l’intime se déploie en vastes panoramas.

Attendu le 16 janvier, leur premier album s’articule autour d’un jeu constant de tension et de relâchement : de longues accalmies suspendues cèdent soudainement la place à des déflagrations sonores, tandis que la répétition devient hypnotique, presque instable. Entre signatures rythmiques mouvantes, accordages alternatifs et polyrythmies, le groupe pousse chaque morceau jusqu’à son point de rupture, comme au bord de l’effondrement.

Nourris par des influences allant de l’expérimentation abrasive à une sensibilité mélodique délicate, Shaking Hand tisse des textures de guitare singulières et une dynamique émotionnelle subtile. Enregistré avec le producteur David Pye dans une église reconvertie à Leeds, l’album capte à la fois l’énergie brute du live et une attention minutieuse portée aux détails, à l სივრც et à l’atmosphère.

Entre abstraction et observation, leur écriture reflète un monde en transformation constante,  à l’image de la ville qui les entoure. Une musique en équilibre, vibrante, qui se construit et se déconstruit sous nos yeux.

Ergens aan de rand van het steeds veranderende stadsbeeld van Manchester creëert Shaking Hand zijn eigen geluidslandschappen. Het trio put uit vroege post-rock en Amerikaanse alternatieve muziek uit de nineties om een geluid te vormen dat zowel nostalgisch als vooruitstrevend aanvoelt, en creëert zo iets intiems en tegelijkertijd weids. Hun debuutalbum, dat op 16 januari verscheen, is gebaseerd op spanning en ontlading – langgerekte, rustige momenten maken plaats voor overweldigende uitbarstingen van geluid, terwijl herhaling hypnotiserend en enigszins onstabiel wordt. Met wisselende maatsoorten, alternatieve stemmingen en polyritmes drijft de band hun nummers voortdurend tot het uiterste, alsof ze elk moment uit elkaar kunnen vallen.

Beïnvloed door Slint, Sonic Youth, Pavement en Ulrika Spacek, combineren ze experimentele gitaartexturen met de melodische gevoeligheid van Big Thief en de dynamische intimiteit van Yo La Tengo. Het album, opgenomen met producer David Pye (Wild Beasts, Teenage Fanclub) in een omgebouwde kerk in Leeds, legt zowel de rauwe energie van hun liveoptredens vast als een nauwgezette aandacht voor textuur, ruimte en sfeer. Hun songwriting, geworteld in abstractie en observatie, weerspiegelt een wereld in voortdurende transformatie – net als de stad die hen omringt.
