On l’attend sur le sol européen depuis un moment, Michelle Gurevich présentera aux Nuits son nouvel album It was the moment, où le post-punk un peu dark nappe son slowcore si caractéristique. La Canadienne s’érige en clé de voûte du programme de ce premier samedi des Nuits. Elle partage la mélancolie sombre et profonde de ses mélodies et le drame queer avec Jay-Jay Johanson, favori du public bruxellois qui a récemment rempli l’Orangerie. L’influence des musiques ashkénazes et du trip-hop fait le lien vers Oi Va Voi. L‘art-pop tendance post-rock d’Efterklang revient au Botanique, tandis que Tim Bernardes gratifiera les lieux de son tropicalia-folk brésilien pour la première fois. Et nous en sommes très fiers. Côté folk, on trouve également la pop sophistiquée d’Helena Deland, le son rétro psyché de Lael Neale et l’indie virtuose de Will Paquin, ainsi que l’anti-folk de l’habitué Jeffrey Lewis et de son band The Voltage. La délégation belge débarque également en force sur ce programme : nos chouchous tunisiens Jawhar et AZA présenteront leur nouveau projet, DIRK. Le frontman Jelle Denturck se réinvente sous Dressed Like Boys avec un folk indie queer tandis que Clément Nourry électrisera les débats. Few Bits et Benni, deux noms de notre scène émergente, témoigneront du bel avenir de notre indie-pop. NL/ Zonder veel hype van pers of buzz op sociale media, heeft Michelle Gurevich een reputatie opgebouwd op de klassieke, meest betrouwbare manier. Haar concerten gingen over de tongen, haar vinyls doorgegeven aan vrienden. Als een soort goed bewaard geheim, wordt haar muziek doorgegeven; misschien wel omdat die intimiteit, verpakt in een intense poëzie en een zekere ongrijpbaarheid, zo eigen zijn aan de kunst van de Canadese. Op Les Nuits stelt Gurevich haar nieuwe album ‘It was the moment’ voor, een werk gehuld in duistere postpunk en gebracht als Lynchiaanse chanson. Andere eigenschappen van haar muziek, deelt ze met andere namen op de affiche. Zo vinden we de queer dramatiek en filmische melancholie terug bij Jay-Jay Johanson, een favoriet van het Brusselse publiek die onlangs nog in een uitverkochte Orangerie speelde. Oi Va Voi brengt dan weer meer van de Oosters-Joodse invloeden in een pakkende, romantische stijl met triphopinvloeden. De affiche gaat verder in verschillende richtingen: de art-pop met een post-rockkantje van Efterklang vult andermaal de serres van de Botanique, terwijl we voor de eerste keer de Braziliaanse singer-songwriter Tim Bernardes en zijn tropicalia-folk mogen verwelkomen in onze concertzaal. Hij is een grote ster in zijn thuisland en speelt een, voor zijn doen, intieme show in de Europese hoofdstad. Aan de folky kant van de affiche vinden we verder de gesofesticeerde fluisterpop van Helena Deland, de psychedelische retrosound van Lael Neale en de virtuoze slaapkamer-indie van Will Paquin, naast de anti-folk van vaste waarde Jeffrey Lewis en zijn band The Voltage. De Belgische delegatie op deze dag is stevig en divers: onze meest dierbare Tunesiërs Jawhar en AZA stellen hun nieuw project voor, DIRK.-frontman Jelle Denturck vindt zichzelf opnieuw uit als Dressed Like Boys met queer indiefolk en Clement Nourry brengt een elektrische interventie.
