Malibu est une musicienne Française dont la pratique artistique tend vers une forme de méditation ; allégorique dans sa pratique, ses compositions sont moins ancrées dans une expérience d’écoute traditionnelle, existant comme des fragments d'une vaste imagination, quoique que très intime. Des bouts de musique drone, neo-classique, dance ou encore pop sont tissés les uns aux autres;— entre synthétiseur, violoncelle, voix éthérée ou parlée, choeurs et fortes basses,— le tout donne lieu à de nouveaux contextes et histoires.

En parallèle, l'expérience live de la musique de Malibu est un moment unique qui fait partie intégrante de sa pratique artistique, présentant un mélange homogène de morceaux qui induit le public dans un état presque second, bercé et hypnotisé. Cela lui a valu de jouer à des festivals tels que Berlin Atonal, Club 2 Club ou Pitchfork, ainsi que récemment en première partie des tournées d'Oklou ou encore Julianna Barwick. La philosophie présente lors de son live s'étend jusqu'à son émission mensuelle hébergée chez NTS Radio, United in Flames.

Une artiste cinématique de nature, elle collabore régulièrement avec les réalisateurs Caroline Poggi & Jonathan Vinel, prêtant sa voix à Bébé Colère ainsi que Comment Ça Va ?, mais également avec une bande originale qu'elle compose pour le film La Fille Qui Explose. Comme une suite logique de ses EPs One Life (2019) et Palaces of Pity (2022), son premier album Vanities sortira le 3 octobre 2025 sur le label suédois Year0001.

Malibu is een Franse muzikante die neigt naar meditatie met haar artistieke praktijk. Haar composities zijn allegorisch en minder verankerd in een traditionele luisterervaring, maar bestaan als fragmenten van een uitgebreide, zij het zeer intieme verbeelding. Fragmenten van drone-, neoklassieke, dance- en popmuziek worden met elkaar verweven – tussen synthesizer, cello, etherische of gesproken stem, koor en krachtige bassen – wat aanleiding geeft tot nieuwe contexten en verhalen.

Tegelijkertijd is de live-ervaring van Malibu’s muziek een uniek moment dat integraal deel uitmaakt van haar artistieke praktijk, met een homogene mix van nummers die het publiek in een bijna tranceachtige, wiegende en hypnotiserende toestand brengt. De filosofie die tijdens haar liveoptredens aanwezig is, strekt zich uit tot haar maandelijkse programma United in Flames op NTS Radio. Als logisch vervolg op haar EP’s ‘One Life’ uit 2019 en ‘Palaces of Pity’ uit 2022 verscheen haar eerste album ‘Vanities’ in oktober op het Zweedse label Year0001.
