Makam Trio began as a duo, arising from the musical encounter between Mevlüt Akgüngör (ney and tanbur) and Robert Micin (oud). Along with Hilde De Clercq (percussion and vocals), they perform pieces from the vast repertoire of Turkish classical and mystic Sufi music, including taksims, peshrevs, ilahis, and sazsemais, but also contemporary compositions in various makams.
The three musicians, each a master of their craft, share a passion for authentic expression and musical dialogue. Their interplay is refined, meditative, and captivating, appealing to both connoisseurs and new listeners alike.
