In 1982 verscheen hun titelloze debuutalbum. “Wie niet geraakt wordt door de stem van Vera Coomans, is vanbinnen dood. Zij is de Marianne Faithfull van Vlaanderen”, aldus Jan Delvaux (Belpop - encyclopedie). Madou keerde de voorbije jaren terug met meer van wat goed was, in een actuele context. Madou herrees dankzij de volgende generatie. De motor was Thomas Devos, zoon van Jan en Vera. Hij bracht vers materiaal aan dat het vuur deed heropflakkeren en maakte nieuwe arrangementen voor oudere songs. Wiet Van De Leest, mede stich ter van Madou, deed weer mee en ook zijn zoon, Louis Van De Leest werd erbij gehaald. Mattijs Vanderleen (o.a. Marble Sounds en Tommigun) verzorgde de ritmesectie en Marc De Maeseneer, een van ’s lands beste saxofonisten, vervoegde de band op het podium. Z o werd Madou na vier decennia – eindelijk –vervolgd. Dit jaar krijgt dat verhaal een bijzonder hoofdstuk: Vera Coomans mocht de prestigieuze Lifetime Achievement Award in ontvangst nemen op de Flanders Folk Awards, Wiet Van De Leest neemt na jaren afscheid van de band en speelt in januari 2027 zijn laatste 3 concerten in België mee. Tot slot verschijnt er in het najaar een vinyl box – set bij Excelsior Records die het oeuvre van Madou definitief zal verankeren. Madou blijft, ook nu, tijdloos en cult.
