Les Nuits Botanique, festival de découvertes ! 
Il l’est depuis toujours et le restera sous sa nouvelle formule. Cependant, « découverte » n’est pas à nos yeux simple synonyme de première apparition des grands noms de demain. La découverte, c’est aussi la recherche des nouveaux sons et de ceux qui tracent aujourd’hui les lignes artistiques du futur. 

Et précepteurs de sons, Jenny Hval et Alabaster DePlume le sont depuis plus d’une décennie. Jenny Hval, auteure-compositrice-interprète norvégienne d’art-pop, bouleverse toutes les convictions à chaque sortie studio ou live. Son nouveau single To Be a Rose, en est un témoignage supplémentaire. Le Britannique Alabaster DePlume est un activiste jazz qui sollicite l’adhésion politique, humaine et artistique. 

En prémices de la Bota By Night, le concept récurrent du Bota pour toutes les musiques qui flirtent avec l’électro et l’expérimenta, les fans des genres avant-gardistes seront ravis de trouver des duos inhabituels, comme le binôme de la batteuse phénoménale Valentina Magaletti et de la productrice kuduro Nídia ou du supergroupe danois Lust For Youth & Croatian Amor avec leur bubblegum-pop industrielle. 

Des duos, nous en aurons aussi dans l’audiovisuel ! À commencer par aya et MFO, deux icônes absolues dans leurs domaines respectifs, l’électronique et les arts visuels. Au menu, mélange sauvage de breaks & beats, d’internet pop et de hardcore, le tout déversé dans un show live spectaculaire. Ils partagent l’affiche avec Sara Persico, dont l’ambient inquiétant est mis en images par Mika Oki et le producteur égyptien ABADIR en duo avec Nicolò Cervello. 

La nuit, et surtout aux Nuits, se termine toujours par une fête. L’Orangerie sera envahie de pop déconstruite livrée aux latin bangers, tandis que le Museum gémira de rythmes technos s’affairant à faire retomber la tension accumulée.  

Comme chaque année, La Bota By Night des Nuits sera un moment fort.

Les Nuits Botanique blijven een ontdekkingsfestival en voor ons betekent dat meer dan enkel de nieuwe grote namen van morgen presenteren. Ontdekken, dat betekent ook: nieuwe sonische richtingen opzoeken en artiesten uit de marge een platform geven die met hun experiment de contouren van de cultuur van morgen vormgeven. Kortom: het mag prikkelen, tegen de haren instrijken en uitdagend voor de oren zijn.

Twee artiesten die al meer dan een decennium daarin de leiding nemen zijn Jenny Hval en Alabaster DePlume. De eerste is een Noorse art-pop-singer-songwriter die ons met elke plaat en performance aan het denken zet als geen ander, en met haar nieuwe single ‘To be a rose’ alweer als geen ander weet te bedwelmen. De tweede is een Britse jazz-rebel en activist, die in al zijn werk empathie op een politiek, persoonlijk en muzikaal vlak nastreeft.

Bota By Night is ons wederkerend concept voor alles wat gebeurt op de grens van elektronische en experimentele muziek. Liefhebbers van dat soort futuristische geluiden, zullen blij zijn om enkele bijzondere duo’s op onze line-up aan te treffen. Zo is er een nieuw project van de fenomenale drummer Valentina Magaletti met de kuduro-producer Nídia en de Deense supergroep van Lust For Youth en Croatian Amor met hun wavey industriële bubblegum-pop.

Nog meer duo’s, maar dan in audiovisuele opstelling! Te beginnen bij aya en MFO, twee absolute iconen in hun veld (respectievelijk electronica en visual arts). Verwacht je aan een wilde mix van beats & breaks, internet pop en hardcore, gegoten in een spectaculaire liveshow. Ze delen de affice met Sara Persico, wiens ongemakkelijke ambient een visueel luik krijgt van Mika Oki, en de Egyptische producer ABADIR in duo met Nicolò Cervello.

We sluiten de avond, lees: nacht, af met een feestje. De Orangerie belooft in het teken te staan van deconstructed pop en Latinx bangers, terwijl het Museum kreunt en dreunt op pompende techno-beats om de opgebouwde spanning weer helemaal te doen zakken. Dat wordt, zoals alle voorbijgaande jaren, ongetwijfeld weer een hoogtepunt.
