Ebbb est un projet formé par le producteur Lev Ceylan et le chanteur Will Rowland, rejoints en live par le batteur Scott MacDonald. Né il y a à peine un an, le trio développe rapidement une identité sonore singulière, entre electronica pulsée, textures ambient et intensité industrielle, portée par des voix mélodiques superposées.

Leur approche repose sur un jeu constant de contrastes, que le groupe résume comme une rencontre improbable entre Brian Wilson et Death Grips. Issu de collaborations antérieures, Ceylan invite Rowland à rejoindre ses productions solo, attiré par l’amplitude de sa voix, façonnée notamment au Westminster Abbey Choir School. De cette rencontre naît une écriture plus ambitieuse et plus extrême.

Enregistré de manière DIY, leur premier EP All At Once (2024) condense cette tension entre précision et brutalité. Des titres comme Himmel, Torn ou Swarm oscillent entre beauté éthérée et énergie abrasive, dans une construction sans excès ni détour, où chaque élément est poussé à son intensité maximale.
Sur scène, Ebbb transforme cette dualité en performance physique, faisant de leurs concerts un espace d’expérimentation sonore en constante évolution.

De debuut-EP ‘All At Once’ van Ebbb is niet in een hokje te plaatsen. De band draait dan ook om voortdurende wendingen en scherpe contrasten. Amper een jaar geleden werd ze opgericht door producer Ceylan en zanger Will Rowland, later aangevuld met drummer Scott MacDonald voor de liveoptredens, en al snel ontwikkelde het project zich tot een uniek geluid dat pulserende elektronica, ambient-tot-industriële beats en gelaagde, melodieuze zang combineert – een hybride die ze samenvatten als ‘Brian Wilson meets Deah Grips’. Ceylan en Rowland hadden elkaar al in eerdere bands ontmoet en Ceylan vroeg Rowland voor zijn soloprojecten, aangetrokken door diens veelzijdige stem, die mede gevormd was door zijn tijd aan de Westminster Abbey Choir School.

Hun samenwerking opende voor beiden nieuwe uitersten: complexe, volledig uitgewerkte producties, gecombineerd met zang die tot nieuwe grenzen werd gedreven. Het schrijven begon vroeg in 2023, met hun eerste optredens slechts enkele maanden later – die uitgroeiden tot een live-hoogtepunt dat via mond-tot-mondreclame bekendheid verwierf dankzij de toegevoegde fysieke kracht van MacDonalds drums. Hoewel opgenomen in een slaapkamer, brengt de vijf nummers tellende EP een evenwicht tussen rauwe energie en minutieuze details, gedreven door een zoektocht naar perfecte melodieën en een intensiteit die nooit afneemt. De muziek van Ebbb gedijt op dualiteit – schommelend tussen etherische schoonheid en schurende kracht, soms beide tegelijk – een dynamiek die tot uiting komt in nummers als ‘Himmel’, ‘Torn’ of ‘Swarm’. Experimenteel en toch strak gecontroleerd, is ‘All At Once’ met precisie opgebouwd: geen overdaad, geen opvulling, elk moment tot het uiterste benut.
