This workshop invites you to bring a character proposal! Over three days we will refine your character through the lens of mask and movement based theatre and physical comedy; you will be supported to develop the character to exist as an embodied form onstage. You will practice tools for devising physical comedy through exercises, improvisations and devising tasks.
The workshop offers exercises in voice, physicality and explores the urgencies of your character. It also offers insight into the devising process and will give you techniques and skills to devise your own work.
Participants are invited to bring a costume proposal for a character they wish to explore for the duration of the three days. This will be an intensive and collaborative workshop. You are invited to attend solo, or with your collaborators (eg if you’re working in a duo, trio). It will be a rigorous and very playful three days, aimed at finding the absolute joy in your character, with strong technique, embodiment and clarity.
This workshop is suitable for all character creatures from across the comedy, theatre, clown & drag worlds and beyond…
