Spike and the Gimme Gimmes (fka Me First and the Gimme Gimmes) staan bekend om hun energieke en humoristische punkrock-coveroptredens. Ze vormen pophits, countrynummers en showtunes om tot luidruchtige punkanthems met veel vakmanschap en spektakel. Alles kan en alles mag, van ABBA tot ZZ Top en alles daartussen. Onder leiding van zanger Spike Slawson brengt de band een mix van komische interactie, kleurrijke matchende outfits en massale meezingmomenten – een act die het midden houdt tussen parodie en liefdevol eerbetoon.

De Amerikaanse punkrockers van de Gimme Gimmes hebben al in verschillende formaties op het podium gestaan. De bandleden zijn steeds gelieerd met het punklabel Fat Wreck Chords, dat werd opgericht door Fat Mike van NOFX. Het begon in 1995 als een hobbyproject met als grootste ambitie plezier maken op het podium. 30 jaar en zes albums later is de band echter nog steeds actief. Wat onveranderd blijft? De super charismatische frontman en zanger Spike Slawson - die z’n sporen verdiende bij Swingin’ Utters - én dat ze uit zijn op een goed feestje.

Dit najaar komen Spike and the Gimme Gimmes keet schoppen in Cactus Club met, naast Spike Slawson, C.J. Ramone, gewezen bassist bij de Ramones, John Reis (Rocket From The Crypt) en Jake Kiley (Strung Out). Verwacht geen gewone concertavond, maar een uitzinnige punkshow om keihard op mee te kwelen. Of je nu komt voor de nostalgie, de humor of een potje duw- en trekwerk in old fashioned punkstyle, Spike and the Gimme Gimmes bezorgen je gegarandeerd een avond vol energie, chaos en overwerkte stembanden.
