- **Event Description**: The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center contains varied habitat and is right on the shores of Lake Michigan making it an ideal spot for both nesting and migrating birds. The Center's bird checklist includes 266 species. We will bird the grounds, and see what early migrating birds are around.  

At 11:00 am we’ll head to the raptor facility where Lindsay Focht, the Raptor Program & Animal Ambassador Director, will let us meet some of the education raptors. This is a good opportunity to learn about raptors, see them up close, and perhaps get a few good photos. 

What to Expect and Accessibility

When you arrive at the Center, mention to the gate attendant that you are with the BIPOC Birding Club of Wisconsin, and you will be admitted without cost. Follow the road to the parking lot and come meet us at the Center.

Schlitz Audubon has both uneven hiking trails as well as wheelchair accessible trails – paved, crushed gravel, and boardwalks. Some of the paved trails are hilly. We’ll stick to the trails that are accessible to all of us. There is plenty to see. See the SANC website for additional accessibility information.

We love new birders! As always, birders of all skill levels and ages are welcome! 

We have child- and adult-sized binoculars available for those who’d like to borrow a pair!
