This is not a classroom course and not a gear showcase. Training takes place entirely in the field, where the environment becomes the primary instructor. Course Focus Participants will learn and apply foundational survival and fieldcraft principles, including: Shelter selection and construction based on terrain and weather Firecraft for warmth, signaling, and sustainment Water procurement and purification Basic land navigation and terrain association Load management and energy conservation Field hygiene and sustainment Environmental awareness and decision-making After-Action Reviews (AARs) to reinforce learning Instruction emphasizes principles over tricks, thinking over memorization, and adaptability over comfort. Overnight Field Exercise An instructor-guided overnight bivouac is a required component of the course. Participants will establish shelter, manage heat and sustainment, reassess conditions after dark, and conduct a structured morning review.
