- **Event Description**: Guided visits to three Churches in the north of the countyAbout this EventTreasures of North LincolnshireExplore and discover three wonderful treasures in the north of the county including St Mary’s Church Broughton, St Andrew’s Church at Redbourne and St Hybald’s Church at Hibaldstow with Kevin Leahy, Jean Howard and the Revd David Eames.Meet at 10.30am at St Mary’s Church, High St, Broughton DN20 0HY where tea and coffee will be provided in the Church and where there is a toilet. Parking is available in local streetsFollowing refreshments, Kevin Leahy, churchwarden and former curator of Scunthorpe Museum and expert on the Anglo-Saxon period will lead a tour of the Church. St Mary's is a remarkable church with an Anglo-Saxon tower nave, climbed via an external staircase turret. To this has been added a Norman nave, Early English chancel and numerous interesting fittings and features. It is then approximately a 5.5mile drive to the Red Lion in Redbourne DN21 4QR for lunchPlease note that lunch is NOT INCLUDED in the cost of the visit. Attendees may bring a packed lunch if they wish. Alternatively, lunch can be booked in the Red Lion in Redbourne. For the menu options available, please see https://redlionredbourne.co.uk/After lunch, the group will walk across to St Andrew's Church, Redbourne DN21 4QN and Blue Badge Guide Jean Howard, will lead a guided visit. St Andrew’s has a dignified tower and colourful interior with a nationally important east window depicting the Day of Judgement. Several important monuments crowd the chancel, including those to the Dukes of St Albans who owned the village until 1917; colour was liberally added to the church by a rogue priest of the 1930s.From Redbourne it is approximately a 1.5mile drive to St Hybald’s Church, Hibaldstow DN20 9LX. The Revd David Eames has kindly offered to guide the church. Although largely a Victorian building, remarkably it is the burial place of St Hybald and welcomes pilgrims to the site. We will be served further refreshments in the Church Hall before departing.
