- **Event Description**: An 8.5 mile/ 13.7 km scenic, circular walk with 730 ft/223 m total ascent starting from St Mary's Lane Car Park TF13 6EH in Much Wenlock What3Words: ///restore.angry.centuries We walk across fields and through woods in the direction of Atterley, passing through a large orchard on the way. Leaving Atterley Farm behind we make a short ascent before stopping for a mid morning break and a chance to admire the lovely view back towards Atterley. We will then continue on towards Shirlett, site of a former Sanatorium. Our route takes us through fields and dingles before arriving at Barrow Church. You will have a chance to look around one of Shropshire’s oldest churches. After lunch a short section of the Jack Mytton Way brings us to the site of the medieval village of Arlescott. The only signs of former habitation being the undulating terrain. At several points in the walk it should be possible to see the Wrekin, Brown Clee and Titterstone Clee depending on weather conditions. We will then head back towards Much Wenlock through fields and wooded pathways. There are several stiles and sections of lane walking, there may be areas of muddy ground and some sections of paths may be slippery. As a result waterproof boots and walking poles are strongly recommended. Bring enough food and drink for a mid-morning break and lunch. There are public toilets in Much Wenlock which are a short walk from the car park. There is no charge for parking in the Much Wenlock car parks on Sunday. Leader Vikki
