- **Event Name**: Clay Henderson: Saving Wild Florida
- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 20 Jan, 2023 at 06:30 pm – Fri, 20 Jan, 2023 at 08:00 pm
- **Event Description**: How do we envision a future for wild Florida without first knowing where we’ve been? Join us on Friday, January 20th from 6:30-8pm as we hear from author Clay Henderson about his book, Forces of Nature, an environmental history of Florida.

Clay Henderson is a sixth generation Floridian who has had a long career as an environmental lawyer, educator, historian, and writer. He has served as president of the Florida Audubon Society and the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation.

Henderson is most associated with wildlife and land conservation. He sponsored most of the environmental provisions in Florida's Constitution including the creation of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and co-authored the Florida Water and Land Legacy Initiative, the largest conservation funding program in our nation’s history.

Nearly one third of Florida’s landscape is in conservation. The story of how that happened, through the work of passionate activists and public officials is an important component of Florida’s history that needs to be told. During our program, guest speaker Clay Henderson will tell that story using maps and historical photos.
