- **Event Description**: Learn all about zines, from creating to distributing them, at Zines 101!About this EventZines 101: Personal Stories & Collective Power is a hands-on zine and bookmaking workshop for adults and teens taught by Booklyn Educators at Interference Archive in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. Join us for this 2.5-hour introduction to zine-making, where you’ll learn the fundamentals of creating your own DIY publications. Educators from Booklyn, Inc., will guide participants through a range of techniques, including paper folding, binding styles, mixed-media collage, text, and basic printing methods. Drawing from decades of experience, they’ll share practical skills, creative insights, and answer your questions along the way. This workshop places particular emphasis on community organizing and personal storytelling. We’ll talk about “perzines” and “infozines,” primarily. Participants will be invited to create a zine on a topic of their choosing–either a personal story or one that shares necessary information for a community. This is a fully hands-on experience: we’ll fold paper, cut, bind, stamp, draw, collage, and print. No prior experience is necessary, just curiosity and an interest in writing, drawing, or crafting. We believe zines are for everyone interested in making them.By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your own handmade zines, plus handouts and resources to support your ongoing zine-making journey. This program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the NY City Council. https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events4/banners/fd86afa0-5826-11f1-966e-412116278f5b-rimg-w1200-h655-dcffffff-gmir.jpg
