Admission is pay what you can. Previous Salons have celebrated the launch of Jericho Brown's The Tradition, Ariana Reines' A Sand Book, and Dorothea Lasky's The Shining. Readings begin at 7:30pm. Cocktail attire is encouraged but not required. This event's featured reader is Haleh Liza Gafori, & copies of Water will be available for purchase at the Salon courtesy of Taylor & Co Books.Members of The Poetry Society of New York & The Urbane Arts Club are invited to join us for an exclusive cocktail party from 6:30-7pm before the event. ABOUT THE ARTIST:Haleh Liza Gafori is a New York City-born translator, performance artist, writer, and educator of Persian descent. A 2024 MacDowell fellow, she has translated the poetry of the Persian mystic and sage Rumi. Her two books of translations entitled Gold (2022) and Water (2025) were published by New York Review Books Classics. Supported by an NYSCA grant, Gafori has created a musical and cross-media performance based on the book and has presented her work, via performances and lectures and workshops, at institutions such as Lincoln Center, Stanford University, the Academy of American Poets, and Sarah Lawrence College.
