Groundbreaking: Sunset Park Library
Join Fifth Avenue Committee and Brooklyn Public Library along with their project partners, as they break ground on their new 8-story building that couples the modernization and expansion of the Brooklyn Public Library’s branch in Sunset Park with the creation of 50 new units of deeply and permanently affordable housing.
The new Sunset Park branch of the library will be over 20,000 square feet and will be newly outfitted for the modern era, with the collections, technology, and flexible space needed to accomodate many uses and serve a large, diverse patronship.
This innovative new mixed-use building will also include 50 units of housing in the six stories above the library, with 11 studios, 13 one-bedroom apartments, 14 two-bedroom apartments, and 12 three-bedroom apartments. Addressing the rising costs of housing in Sunset Park, all apartments will be 100% affordable, with nine units reserved for formerly homeless survivors of domestic violence.
Come join this exciting groundbreaking in Sunset Park!
