This survey class will give a brief, hands-on introduction to a wide array of glassmaking processes. Over 8 weeks, we will move through four different studio areas, learning basics in glassblowing, flameworking, kilnforming, and coldworking. This class will introduce you to the basics of each process through short projects. Students will learn how to safely and effectively work in a variety of glassmaking studios, and conversations will cover the wider possibilities in each technique.What to Expect: After a brief demonstration, students will get hands-on experience in each studio, creating an object that demonstrates the possibilities in that technique with the teacher's guidance. Expect to get an introduction to a wide range of glass processes. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.Eligibility: No experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass.We recommend registering for classes early to reserve your spot! We base materials, and teacher needs off of student enrollment. Early registration not only guarantees your spot in class, but also helps to ensure the class will run. Classes with low enrollment may be canceled within two weeks of the start date of class.
