Artists lu yim, funto omojola, and Anna RG premiere an experimental work that invites audiences into a fragmentary mapping—circling sound, history, and imagination to get closer to something just out of reach.Since the spring, the trio has been in conversation, beginning with the apparition of the historical “bed piano” built for horizontal invalid players. Together, they trace tangential infrastructures, sick score-making, fictional music, and the colonial resonances of “playing the melody with your trigger finger.” Through this collaborative exploration, they uncover what is filled in, what’s left to the imagination, and what disturbances emerge through shared connection and permission between disabled artists.The creation of this work is supported by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). ais presented as part of Recess’s Session program, that provides artists the resources, space, and support to realize ambitious projects in collaboration with the public.Access Note: All program space at 46 Washington Avenue is fully accessible for wheelchair users.
