- **Event Description**: Join photographer Nathan Kensinger for a walking tour of Coney Island Creek!About this EventConey Island is best known for its oceanfront amusement parks, boardwalk and beach. But on the other side of the island, one of Brooklyn’s wildest creeks hides an equally interesting landscape. This walk will traverse the mouth of Coney Island Creek, visiting its parks and marinas, and exploring its hidden trails, fishing holes, beaches, and boat wrecks. Along the route, we will discuss the history of the creek, and some of the recent proposals for coastal projects that would radically altered its shoreline, including seawalls, a storm surge barrier, and a ferry stop. This walk is designed and led by Nathan Kensinger, an artist, filmmaker, photographer and journalist who has been documenting New York City’s wild rivers and creeks for 20 years. Sturdy, close-toed shoes are recommended for this 2.5 mile walk, which will involve walking on beaches, footpaths, wooded environments, and uneven ground. Please note: This walk is one way. It will begin in Coney Island Creek Park and end in Calvert Vaux Park.Thank you to District 47 Councilmember Santosuosso for supporting this walk!
