Grand Re-opening of the McComb City Railroad Depot Museum Museum is coming March 7th.

 
The railroad museum was founded in 2003.  The newly rebuilt Railroad Depot Museum memorializes the railroad industry and local history. Highlights at the museum include model trains, historical videos, and unique artifacts. Visitors can explore 7 vintage rail cars.

The Lincoln County Historical Society presents history of the Illinois Central Railroad and features of the soon-to-be reopen museum. The history presentation programs returns Thursday, February 26th at 6:30pm. The free program begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Jimmy Furlow Senior Center on South First Street, and refreshments will be served.  

The Illinois Central railcar repair was a major employer for many years including a number of workers from Lincoln County and surrounding areas.

Sam and Ganeath Daniel will be presenting the features of the museum which includes model trains, tours of full size train cars, beautiful artwork, historical videos and objects of local interest.

The Grand Re-opening of the Railroad Depot Museum will be Saturday, March 7th from 10am until 2pm.  The museum is located at 108 N. Railroad Blvd., McComb.
 
The mail car includes slots with Lincoln County destinations.  Brookhaven's own Jimmy Perkins donated his model train collection to the museum.
 
Among displays on the wall is a photo of the Alexander High Band in McComb, on display at the railroad museum.

Col. Henry S. McComb founded McComb in 1872.  He was President of Mississippi Central Railroad and the New Orleans, Jackson and Great Northern Railroad.
