John Henry "Doc" Holliday (1851-1887) was a dentist, gambler, and gunfighter of the American Old West. Diagnosed with tuberculosis at an early age and following his doctor's advice, he moved to the American Southwest in hopes that the drier climate would help his condition. He drifted through frontier towns like Dodge City, Deadwood, and Las Vegas, New Mexico. He gained notoriety for his quick temper, sharp wit, and deadly aim.

With a reputation as a dangerous loner, Holliday is best known for his role in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona, on October 26, 1881. As a close friend and ally of Wyatt Earp, Holliday was deputized and stood alongside the Earp brothers—Virgil and Morgan—in the famous 30-second shootout against a group of outlaw cowboys. Holliday was armed with a shotgun and a revolver and was grazed by a bullet during the fight, but survived. He would later assist Wyatt Earp in the "Earp Vendetta Ride" to hunt down those responsible for the assassination of Morgan Earp.

Desperado: The Real Story stars several Mountain Community Theater actors familiar to SLV audiences: David Leach, Kate Cunningham, and Matthew Chipman. The film also features local valley personalities Julie Horner, John Kornher, Bob Pilgreen, Linda Deal, Marc Koenig, and Chris Schiermeyer. Your host, Scott Deal says, "Not since women swam behind the bar at the Brookdale Lodge has there been such an event!"
