Naivy Pérez (Cuba, 1986) is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and curator based in New York City. Her work explores the boundaries of individual and collective consciousness, using artistic and experiential processes to question systems of control rooted in religion, gender, politics, and technology. Through performance, installation, video, and digital media, Pérez constructs symbolic frameworks that invite critical reflection on the structures shaping human perception and behavior.
She holds a Gold Diploma in Visual Arts from the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) in Havana, Cuba, and pursued further studies in technology, robotics, and new media at the Royal University College of Fine Arts (Kungliga Konsthögskolan) in Stockholm. She is also an alumna of the “Professional Workshop for Spanish-speaking Latinx Artists” led by Creative Capital and the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics at NYU.
Pérez is the Founder and Executive Director of Experimental Loop, an international video art festival dedicated to new media and critical experimentation, and serves as Deputy Director of the New York Latin American Art Triennial (NYLAAT). Her curatorial and artistic work has been featured in institutions such as the PHI Centre (Montreal), Tufts University Art Gallery (Boston), Sullivan Galleries (Chicago), the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas (Miami), and the Alliance Française (Havana).
She has exhibited her work in over a dozen countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, and Australia. Pérez has received numerous awards, grants, and residencies, including support from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC), the Juan Francisco Elso creation grant, and multiple national prizes in Cuban art salons. Her works are part of both public and private collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s print portfolio collection in New York.
