Come out for a training with a dynamic duo, the Upper and Lower Sugar River Watershed Associations! Our Project RED (Riverine Early Detectors) training is meant to help people who recreate on our waterways be on the lookout for aquatic invasive species while they are out on or near the water.

Wisconsin’s rivers are vulnerable to invasion by a number of aquatic invasive species (AIS). The key to successfully protecting our waters is detecting invasive species early when it may still be possible to isolate or control them. AIS populations that are detected early require less money and effort to manage.


Volunteers are invaluable for early detection and rapid response. If left unchecked, AIS have the potential to reduce the diversity of native organisms, disrupt the food web, and impact recreational activities.

Please consider bringing a friend and get out near the water with us. It takes all of us!
