It has a greater concentration than anywhere else in western Europe – more than 1,400 have been recorded here so far!Immensely old, and full of character and charisma, ancient and veteran trees are rare. They have been sculpted by time, revered by generations of local people, and many species depend on them for their survival – including woodland birds, bats, fungi, lichens and invertebrates.Good to knowPlease wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather.Well behaved dogs allowed on leads. Please bring poo bags.Cost: £5 for adults. Under 16s are free.Part of the New Forest Awakening Festival, running throughout March 2026
