Struggling (with) masculinities tries to answer bell hooks’ call for “guides that will show us how to create a world where feminist masculinity thrives”. When men engage with feminism, they place themselves in an ambivalent position, trying to relinquish their own privileges, while also occupying a privileged position within the feminist struggle that must be approached with care. Together, we try to navigate these difficult waters by looking at theory (and critique) around feminism and masculinity, reflecting and exchanging on our own position in the patriarchal system, and developing actions to struggle towards a more gender-equitable future. The workshop is held in the frame of the artistic research process of the Maminic project.

This event is open to all genders. We look forward to learning together and creating a space where diverse perspectives can be shared and explored. See you there!

Flo Schinnerl (they/them) is a facilitator, artist, and music therapist in training. Their focus is on topics around gender, sexuality, relationships, mental health, and social and environmental justice.

Florent Golfier-Brechmann is a performer, choreographer, and activist. He aims to connect with the fragility we all share and from which we draw inspiration, honesty, and power, and help others to accept it as a precious part of ourselves. Based on this artistic approach, Florent searches for ways to connect initiatives across disciplines in order to work on acknowledgment and clarification of our present and future identities.

Struggling (with) masculinities se snaží vyslyšet volání bell hooks po “návodech, které nám ukážou, jak vytvářet svět, v němž může prosperovat femisitická maskulinita”. Když se muži začnou zabývat feminismem, dostanou se do ambivalentní pozice. Na jedné straně se vzdávají vlastních privilegií, na druhé straně se však zároveň ocitají na privilegované pozici v rámci feministického boje, k níž je třeba přistupovat s náležitou péčí.
Na workshopu se společně pokusíme proplout těmito náročnými vodami pomocí teorie (a kritiky) feminismu a maskulinity, reflektovat a proměnit naše vlastní pozice v patriarchátu a vyvynout iniciativu v boji za genderově spravedlivější budoucnost.
Workshop se uskutečňuje v rámci uměleckého výzkumu projektu Maminic, který produkují spolky tYhle (CZ) a P.A.P.A (AT).
Událost je otevené všem genderům. Těšíme se na společné učení a vytváření prostoru, kde budeme moci sdílet a prozkoumávat různorodé perspektivy.

Flo Schinnerl (they/them) se zabývají se facilitací, uměním a muzikoterapií. Zaměřují se na témata kolem generu, sexuality, vztahů, mentálního zdraví i sociální a environmentální spravedlnosti. 

Florent Golfier-Brechmann je performer, choreograf a aktivista. Soustředí na upřímnost, sílu a křehkost, kterou máme každý v sobě. Vede své okolí k tomu, aby křehkost přijalo jako cennou součást sebe sama. S tímto uměleckým přístupem hledá způsoby, jak propojit iniciativy napříč obory s cílem být ochotný přijmout komplexitu naší doby a přitom stále bojovat za individuální i systémovou změnu.
