The International Congress on Radiation Research (ICRR 2027) is the largest global event in radiation research, held once every four years on a different continent, and typically attracts up to about 2,000 scientists from around the world. In this sense, ICRR-2027 can be likened to the "Olympics" of radiation research. It covers a wide range of topics that are scientifically and societally highly significant, including fundamental science (with a strong focus on microscopy and visualization), space exploration in the context of space radiation, the origins of life, AI and multiscale computer simulation in radiation science, curative and palliative cancer radiotherapy, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) protection and crisis preparedness, sustainable energy for the future, and more (details are provided in the congress brochure).
The scientific program is organized by the Scientific Committee, which includes over 50 renowned scientists from around the world. ICRR-2027 enjoys support from many prominent political and scientific institutions in the Czech Republic, such as the South Moravian Region, the Mayor of Brno, the Czech Academy of Sciences (the country’s leading scientific institution), the Czech Medical Association of Jan Evangelista Purkyně (the largest Czech medical society, representing over 120 individual societies and associations), the National Radiation Protection Institute, major universities, and others. The general patronage of the President of the Czech Republic and his wife is also in progress.
The congress will be held in Brno, Czech Republic, a city rich in history and attractive from both scientific and touristic perspectives—offering numerous opportunities to combine scientific work, networking with colleagues and friends, and exploring the beauty and hospitality of Central Europe. Therefore, not surprisingly, the motto of ICRR-2027 is 'Science & Life'. Today, genetics is a vital discipline, playing a key role not only in radiobiology but also in cancer biology and other scientific fields. Additionally, Brno serves as an ideal strategic location for side trips to Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, and even slightly farther destinations like Warsaw. This exceptional setting promises high attendance and a vibrant exchange of scientific ideas. The ICRR-2027 program will also feature associated symposia, a student education program (school), the presentation of prestigious awards, and organized excursions.
