Women's Wellbeing Workshops - Eating and Strength Training for an Active Lifestyle
Led by Claire Callaghan B.Pty MSc and Sue Baic MSc RD
Eating well and being active boosts physical and mental health throughout women's lives, from teenage years to childbirth through to menopause and ageing. This fun, informative and practical session explores how both diet and strength training can reduce injury risk to joints and muscles and enhance enjoyment, performance & recovery from sport, exercise and physical activity- whatever we choose to do.
This workshop will explore
Carbohydrate, fat and protein to fuel activity – what to eat and when
Staying afloat: what to drink before ,during and after activity
Diet for optimum bone and joint health
Core strength and tone: regaining and maintaining strength through the abdomen, lower back and pelvic floor
Personalised strengthening exercises to support your chosen sport and activity
Injuries, aches and pains to women are predisposed to, prevention and management
There will be the opportunity to ask for expert advice both in a group and 1:1 setting. Tea, coffee and snacks provided.

About the speakers
Claire Callaghan, BPty MSc (Sport and Exercise Physiotherapy) has been a Chartered Physiotherapist for over 20 years. She currently works in private practice. Her current and previous clientele include women of all ages and levels of physical ability, from those who are looking to be more active to Olympic medallists.
Sue Baic MSc RD is a registered dietitian with over 20 years’ experience in healthcare settings and in research and teaching at the University of Bristol. She has particular interest and expertise in diet, activity and women’s health.

What should I wear?
The strengthening component of the workshop includes optional practical elements, so wearing clothing suitable for gentle exercise is most appropriate.
