Shot in Wong’s signature dreamy, restless style, the film is as much about queer love as it is about distance, desire, and the ache of wanting something you can’t quite hold onto.Released at a time when queer stories were rarely centred in international arthouse cinema, Happy Together remains one of the most iconic depictions of a same-sex relationship on screen. It’s messy, melancholic, and deeply romantic in its own offbeat way.
