Postponed! Protest the Transphobic University of Bristol!
Come out to support Nic Shall as they face another day of disciplinary proceedings in front of a committee at the University of Bristol, for writing an open letter expressing concerns about A Woman's Place UK (WPUK).
Nic is being prosecuted by the University for asserting their right to exist as a trans person in writing the open letter that explained the negative impact on the trans community should the University host this hate group. The case was adjourned in June 2018, and will recommence in February 2019.
In a classic case of victim blaming, rather than offering support to the trans community at a time that has seen a rise in hostility and erasure of trans people, the University are alleging, among other things, that Nic has brought them "into disrepute" by associating the University with transphobia.
Even as they drag out this most bogus of disciplinary proceedings, the hypocrisy of this transphobic Insitution extended to hosting Heather Brunskell-Evans - a notorious bigot and trans misogynist who was a speaker at a WPUK event in June 2018 - on the University Campus a day after Trans Day of Remembrance, on the 21st November 2018. Posie Parker, known for her transphobia (including comments online that trans men should be sterilised) and racism, was also welcomed onto campus by the "Bristol Free Speech Society".
Join this demo to show Bristol University that their transphobia will not be tolerated under the guise of freedom of speech!
TERFs, abusers (+ their apologists) & racists (e.g. people who are into cultural appropriation such as white dreads) not welcome.
More details to follow.
