This course is for anyone who would like to gain a better understanding of mental health conditions and how to manage mental health in the workplace.

Approximately 1 in 4 people will experience a mental illness each year. In 2015 15.8 million work days were lost due to mental illness, with our support you can gain a greater understanding of how you can support staff and customers mental health in the workplace. The course will be delivered by a disabled person with lived experience of mental health.

Course Content and Learning Outcomes:


To gain some understanding of the needs and experiences of people with mental health needs

To explore the impact of stigma of mental illness

Keeping the Social Model of Disability in mind, gaining some understanding of how people feel who are labelled

To explore communication skills and practice active listening skills

Increase awareness of attitudes towards mental health and illness

Recognising the continuum of mental health and who is effected

Identifying key factors that affect mental health and wellbeing

Recognise and understand some of the most common signs and symptoms of mental health conditions

Acquire the confidence to deal with people who may be experiencing mental health problems
