Blending Americana, rock, soul, and melodic pop, Bristol-born songwriter Don McCloskey brings his eight-piece band to the Bristol Riverside Theatre for a special hometown performance on the stage where he first began performing. The show marks a return to a formative space for an artist whose career has since taken him far beyond Bucks County.
McCloskey’s songs have appeared in the Oscar-winning film Bowling for Columbine, television series including It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, streaming series such as Mythic Quest, Audible audio dramas, international advertising campaigns, radio, and podcasts. His work has built a dedicated national and international audience, with millions of streams across platforms.
As a live performer, McCloskey has toured extensively and shared stages with artists ranging from Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon, The Roots, Donavon Frankenreiter, The White Buffalo, and G. Love & Special Sauce, to the cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Recent highlights include sold-out performances at The Mann Center, Radio City Music Hall, and Hollywood’s Troubadour.
McCloskey’s most recent album, The Chaos and the Beauty, has received strong support from both WXPN and WMMR, earning regular airplay and featured performances on WXPN’s Key Studio Sessions, Free at Noon, Home for the Holidays, and the XPoNential Music Festival. He and the band are also frequent guests on WMMR’s Preston & Steve Show and the station’s annual charitable event, Camp Out for Hunger. The Philadelphia Inquirer praised his psychedelic-soul reimagining of “O Holy Night” in their list of “best holiday songs.”
Listeners can explore standout tracks including “I IV V,” “Unbecoming,” “First in Flight,” and “O Holy Night” ahead of the show — then experience the full scope of McCloskey’s songwriting and bandleading live, in a rare hometown performance.
