Defences is an Alternative Metal band hailing from Hertfordshire, UK, featuring Cherry Duesbury (vocals), William Young (keys, vocals), Calum Wilmot (guitar), and Kyle Parke (drums). Known for their powerful sound and emotive lyrics, the band has released three full-length albums, two EPs, and numerous singles. Their music has garnered millions of streams, with high fan engagement reflected in tens of thousands of saves and playlist additions.
In 2024, Defences released seven singles from their latest album,
Shadowlight, their first under Long Branch Records. The tracks have received extensive support from major DSP playlists and significant airplay, particularly on BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio.
The Shadowlight era has marked an exciting chapter for Defences, with highlights including their 2024 UK headline tour, a debut European performance at Reeperbahn Festival, and a Germany support tour with Rising Insane. Looking ahead to 2025, the band is set to embark on another UK headline tour.
Defences has a strong live presence, demonstrated through numerous UK tours, sell-out headline shows, and festival appearances at events like Download, Takedown, Burn It Down, UK Tech-Metal Festival, and Reeperbahn Festival. Their connection with fans is further cultivated through their dedicated online community, #TheHeart, ensuring their fanbase continues to grow as they enter this exciting new phase.
