Formulating policy successfully requires negotiations between various stakeholders, often with competing interests. Policy professionals will often find themselves in a position where they need to influence – and negotiate between – assorted groups, not only in order to develop the policy but also once the work has been completed.
This topic provides a practical and interactive approach to using influence when consulting with stakeholders and provides opportunities to practice negotiation skills within a workshop environment, as well as back in the workplace.
This course is aimed at policy professionals who are involved in consultations or negotiations and wish to progress to more complex challenges.
This topic features an all-day workshop that is focused on developing your influencing and negotiating skills. The workshop provides a supportive, interactive and practical setting in which to develop these skills.
Preparatory work to be completed before you attend the workshop includes watching a short video on collaboration and consultation and familiarising yourself with the National Service Bill case study that underpins the workshop’s practise exercises.
