Collaborative Print Weekend: Printing with Stencils and Lino
Do you want a weekend to yourself, some time to immerse yourself in the creative process?
Get into the flow and join two local Bristol artists for a weekend of print in this brand new exciting collaboration. On Saturday Sophie Rae will teach you the art of building up layers of rich, textured, colourful shapes, using hand cut stencils and artist quality rollers. These prints will be your backgrounds for the second print process. On Sunday, experienced lino cut printmaker, Kerry Day will take you through the beautiful art of lino cutting, helping you to create stamps for adding line detail over your printed backgrounds. All materials are provided, so just find your way upstairs to the delightful Wave Room at the top of Quay Street Diner and allow yourself to float away into a fun, relaxed, creative weekend.
The weekend is suitable for beginners who are interested in exploring new print techniques and those who have done it before but want extra advice on the day.
This is a 2 day workshop from 10-4pm on both Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th February.
You can order yourself some food at the beginning of the day from the tasty selection made at the diner downstairs and have it cooked fresh and brought up for you on your 12.30 lunch break.
About the artists, Sophie Rae and Kerry Day
Both Bristol artists work as freelancers and have lots of experience teaching workshops. Sophie creates prints using the process she teaches in her workshops and also paints murals, loving to play with layers of rich, vibrant colours and overlapping shapes. Kerry takes her inspiration from the many cacti and plants she shares her home and studio with. She is fascinated by the shapes and contours of leaves, and the joy of discovering new patterns within the vibrant green foliage. Check out her work: www.kerryday.co.uk
Dates: Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th Feb 2019
