Acceptance and Commitment Training for parents of children with Autism
Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) - for parents of children with autism.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is based on the innovative use of mindfulness and values. The aim of ACT is to maximise human potential for a rich, full and meaningful life; to cultivate well-being through mindful values-based living.
The idea of ACT can initially be a bit of a tricky concept to get your head around, but the research indicates that it is a very effective tool in helping people to learn to cope and live with anxiety, depression, difficult and challenging life circumstances, grief and insomnia (amongst other areas).
We are hosting a course for parents on Monday 3rd December in Bristol, which will be run by Beverly Coghlan. Beverly is accredited as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with the BABCP. She is experienced in working with people that have OCD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, health anxiety and insomnia amongst other conditions. Beverly completed regular lecturing in University and provides clinical supervision to other professionals. She is also trained in EMDR.
The training workshop will specifically focus on strategies for the parents of children with autism and is not an approach to use with a child with autism.
Lunch, biscuits, tea and coffee will be provided as part of the workshop. Please let me know if you have any particular dietary requirements.
Autism Fledglings does not accept any responsibility for any cancellations or expenses incurred due to a cancellation of this training workshop.
