In the last couple of months, we've lost two of the most charismatic - not to mention sexiest - stars in Hollywood history: Diane Keaton and Robert Redford. Sadly, Keaton and Redford never shared the screen (fire safety concerns, perhaps?), but we're screening two films which showcase how they both combined smarts and beauty to devastatingly charming effect.
Redford is Joe Turner, a bookish CIA analyst who pops out for lunch and comes back to find his entire office wiped out. On the run and unsure who to trust, he’s forced to turn his quiet intelligence against the system that built him.
Shot in the long shadow of Watergate, Three Days of the Condor distils 1970s paranoia into a cool, propulsive thriller that still crackles with unease fifty years on reminding us why Redford’s charm, intelligence and quiet moral intensity defined a generation of American cinema.
