1850's Tintype Portraits - Open Studio
Photographer Gareth Jarvis will be showing new work at an Open Studio, situated at Space Gallery Old Market from Friday 18th January to Thursday 31st JanuaryCome between 12pm and 6pm and see Gareth in action shooting tintype portraits with a vintage wooden camera and Nineteeth Century brass lenses. Enjoy browsing recent work and witness a mezmerizing 166 year old photographic technique up close.
Gareth will be available for single portraits, couples, families and pets, his ever popular photographs will be available to book for hourly sessions.
Tintypes are richly detailed one-of-a-kind images of pure elemental silver made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of metal coated with a dark lacquer or enamel and used as the support for the photographic emulsion.They are images of exceptional honesty and clarity.
